Beautifully written. I really enjoyed this, and it captures so well the human imagination. I do this sort of thing myself. Congratulations on placing in the contest. That's not a bad prize either.

Hurray!

I LOVED IT! It's amazing how much can run through your mind in just the time it takes for a light to change. Your story made me laugh because these are exactly the types of thoughts I find myself thinking. And you never know, the dad sticker may have just worn off, and you've gone from hating the guy to feeling sorry for his widow. GREAT STORY!!! Well deserved!!! Jamie

I love how your opinion changes from one second to another...the amount of emotions, humor and truth you put in this story is wonderful...great job!

You're just on a roll girl...keep it up!

That was a wonderful read. Little worlds imagined waiting for the light to change. Congratulations, Danette!

Great work, Danette. I liked yours best too (really), and I often feel that whenever a piece of writing places in a competition, it doesn't matter whether you're 1, 2, or 3: the work is of such high caliber that the judges must have relied on eenie, meenie, miney, moe to reach their final decision.

And I do this too, when I'm sitting in traffic. People-watching is a great hobby for a writer.

Congratulations! You are just on the rise, aren't you! It reminds me that when you are on your right journey in your life, doors just open, one after the other. Just keep walking through those doors - you are well on your way (and the rest of us are hopefully only a few doors down!)

Danette, I saw your blog over at Charles Gramlich's site. I loved "Intersection," and congrats on the Middle Reader. I also got started in writing when I was young--six. I sent a 3 page story to the author of Perry Mason, who wrote back and said "Keep writing." :) Great blogs.

Danette, I very much enjoyed your vignette. Clever, tightly written, and pulled on a couple of strong emotions in such a short piece.

Very nicely done, and congratulations for your placement!!!!
